South Mumbai locals want BMC to permit 24/7 parking facility
After the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation started the new paid parking policy in various residential areas of South Mumbai, local residents requested the civic body to allow for 24 hours parking facility on the road. As of now, as per the new pay-and -park policy, the residents can park their vehicles on their designated spots on the road only between 8 pm and 7 am.
Under new policy, BMC to accept requests through residential societies
As per the new parking policy, BMC will accept requests only through residential societies, which will be given the responsibility of monitoring the parking with the help of their security guards. The BMC will also demarcate parking slot for the vehicles as the society will be required to pay the civic body on behalf of its members.
No point asking residents to wake up to shift vehicles
President of Clean Heritage Colaba Residents' Association Subhash Motwani said, "There is no point asking the residents to wake up at 7 am to shift their car to another location. It should be a round-the-clock facility." Motwani added that they will also request the civic body to build a plan for the old buildings that do not have parking facility inside their premises.
