Juhu Building Fire: 2-year-old daughter saved us, says laborer's wife
Hasnara Lashkar, the wife of a laborer who survived the fire in an under-construction building at Mumbai's Juhu, said her two-year-old daughter Jubaiya saved their lives. She said Jubaiya wanted to urinate and insisted on going outside the building. As soon as they left the building, twin cylinder blasts killed six and injured 18 construction workers who lived in the stilt portion. Know more!
Massive fire in under-construction Juhu building
Five laborers and a child were charred to death in a fire in an under-construction 13-storey building "Prarthana" in Mumbai's Juhu Vile Parle Development (JVPD) Scheme. 18 injured persons were rushed to RN Cooper Hospital. Locals alerted the fire brigade, and three engines were rushed to the site. Twin cylinder blasts caused the blaze; the flame was soon brought under control.
Six persons jump off the building before second blast
After the first cylinder blast, Hasnara started screaming at her husband Jillu Rehman who was on the first floor; he saw them and jumped off the building. He is one of the six people who jumped out before the second blast; he survived with minor injuries. Rehman's family lost Rs. 5000, ID proofs and debit cards in the fire.
