Mumbai University: Clash of exams with other tests worry students
The Mumbai University has postponed 30 exams, due to their inability to announce results on time. This has become a major reason to worry for students, as many of them will also be taking exams for professional courses like Company Secretary (CS) or Chartered Accountancy/CA and the dates might clash. In fact, the last B.Com exam is clashing with a CA paper exam.
Final-year BAF student shares the ordeal
"Majority of students from the commerce department also pursue CA or Company Secretary (CS) exams simultaneously with their degree. Year after year, the university ends up announcing the examination schedule without checking the schedule for other exams," said a final-year B.Com(Accounting and Finance) (BAF) student.
It's a double whammy for BAF and law students
For BAF students, it's a double whammy. Not only are their earlier semester results held-up, even their exams have got postponed from April 19 to May 15. The law department has also been hit badly as it faces maximum postponements. Since earlier semester's results are yet to be declared, delayed exams this time will leave students with little time to apply for re-evaluation.
Last week, students protested at Kalina campus demanding result clarity
Around 150 students protested at MU's Kalina campus last week demanding updates about results. Even when the results are being declared, students aren't happy and they have reasons. For example, BFM results were declared on Tuesday and their current semester exams are starting in a week. This means they cannot see the results until their exams get over, hence cannot apply for re-evaluation.
