Monsoon may arrive in Mumbai this weekend, yellow alert issued

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the conditions appeared favorable for the beginning of the monsoon in Mumbai this weekend, reported The Indian Express.
Meanwhile, it has also issued a yellow alert, indicating heavy rainfall for Maharashtra's three districts—Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar—for Monday and Tuesday.
Reportedly, the intensity of rain would gradually increase over the next four to five days.

Mumbai experiences pre-monsoon showers
Speaking to The Indian Express, IMD scientist Sushma Nair said, "We are expecting the monsoon to arrive this weekend, sometime between [Friday and Sunday]. There is a possibility of good rain in the upcoming week."
Moreover, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert for all districts of Maharashtra for the next five days.
On Friday, several pockets of Mumbai reportedly experienced pre-monsoon showers.

Monsoon in Mumbai delayed by 2 weeks
Mumbai's city division recorded 0.23mm of rain on Friday, while eastern and western suburbs experienced 0.08mm and 0.03mm through the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) showed.
Reportedly, this year, the monsoon in Mumbai has been delayed by about two weeks.
Per reports, experts said this might be the most delayed monsoon in a decade.
