Mumbai: Mentally-challenged woman violated, was raped three times earlier too
An 18-year-old girl, who was missing from her Mumbai suburban home since November 15, was found last week in Malwani. And she was not safe and sound; rather, she had been allegedly raped. What worsened matters is that she is mentally challenged and this is the fourth time she went missing in the last three years. And every time she was assaulted, cops informed.
Woman has been sent for medical examination
This time she was allegedly raped by an unidentified man, hunt for whom is on, as per Malwani police. The woman, who stays in a slum in the densely-populated area with her parents and siblings, has been sent for medical examination to a government hospital.
After parents failed to locate her, they approached police
Cops said after she went missing, her parents and siblings frantically searched for her. When they failed to locate her, they approached the police during the weekend and a missing diary was filed. An investigation ensued and the cops were tipped off that someone has seen the woman moving around aimlessly in Malwani. They quickly jumped into action and brought her home.
Rape case registered, accused would be nabbed soon, cops assured
When asked about what had happened to her when she had gone missing, she told the police that she was raped. Subsequently she was sent to medical examination and a rape case was registered against the assaulter. Cops said the accused would be nabbed soon.
Cops have requested family to get her admitted for treatment
According to them, psychological analysis revealed the woman has the mental development of a seven-year-old and it becomes difficult for her to remember routes. That's why the last time when she went missing, the inspectors repeatedly asked her family to get her admitted to a psychiatric hospital. They have also assured of her safety.
