Mumbai: Man pulls woman's pants, molests her, arrested
A 40-year-old woman had a stomach-churning experience when she was out on a walk on Tuesday. Around 10PM, she left her Borivali residence to take a 42-minute walk till Malad, when she got molested by a man. The man pulled her pants and when she stopped, he went in front and started touching her inappropriately. He wasn't even drunk, cops confirmed.
He alighted from his scooter to carry out his act
Ramraj Pawar, a 33-year-old Malwani resident, was riding his scooter when he spotted the woman. He alighted from his two-wheeler, parked it and started following her. She was oblivious initially. When she reached the New Link Road in Kandivali (West), the man sneaked upon her and pulled her pants. Shocked, the woman questioned Pawar's action, but he proceeded with his repulsive act.
She cried for help, but Pawar managed to flee
The woman started crying for help, which alerted passers-by, who rushed to her. They also tried to catch and thrash him, but Pawar managed to run away. Someone then called up the police control room. A patrolling jeep reached the spot. Eventually, Pawar was arrested. He now faces a case under IPC Section 354 (assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
He will remain in judicial custody till granted bail
Senior inspector of Charkop police station, Pramod Dhaware, said they have recorded the woman's statements, along with others who were present at the spot. They're trying to find out if Pawar has a criminal past. He will remain in judicial custody till he's granted bail.
