Aboard Mumbai local, man tries to molest, thrash, strangle woman
A shocking video has emerged that shows a well-built man first trying to molest a woman, then attacking her and when she resisted him, he caught her by her hair and tried to strangle her, during which she even came dangerously close to the open gate. The incident took place in the compartment reserved for differently-abled aboard a CST-bound train in Mumbai last night.
The man boarded the train, drunk, and started beating her
A co-passenger, who recorded the video, said that the man, Rafique Shaikh boarded the train around 11 PM from Kurla in an inebriated state and started beating up the woman, when the train gained pace. The guard in the next compartment couldn't help her as the compartments were separated by a barricade. He was later detained at Dadar station and will be produced in court.
The man who recorded video speaks out
"I being 90% disabled couldn't do much as there was a threat to my life if I intervened. I asked the guard, who was in the ladies (next) compartment, to pull the emergency alarm but he didn't respond," said the man who recorded the video.
The man apparently owed her a lot of money
It is not known if the two knew each other, but there are reports that the man owed a lot of money to the woman and they had a fight about this. Some reports also emerged that the duo was married to each other previously and some say they were lovers. Whatever be it, the viral video definitely raises questions on women's safety.
