Ganpati Visarjan Maharashtra: Celebrations marred by death of 12 people
Hundreds of thousands of devotees in Maharashtra bid adieu to Lord Ganesh during the Visarjan rituals yesterday on the last day of the 12-day long Ganeshotsav, Anant Chaturdashi. However, the death of at least 12 people during the idol immersion ceremonies marred the Visarjan celebrations throughout the state. According to reports, the deceased include minors and also a policeman.
Maharashtra: Exact details of deaths still not confirmed
In Aurangabad, three persons drowned during the Ganpati Visarjan in Shivnai Lake near Bidkin in the district. According to the Maharashtra Police, four people lost their lives in Pune. Two persons in Jalgaon and one each in Nashik and Beed districts also died during the ceremonies. In Mumbai, an on-duty Assistant Sub-Inspector at Lalbaug reportedly collapsed suddenly and died.
