Mumbai: Driverless metros to run on Metro III
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) will acquire driverless trains for the underground metro corridor on the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz route, also known as Metro III. MMRC's systems director AA Bhatt said these trains would be equipped with the latest technology prevalent across the globe. The Metro system will open for passengers in phases beginning 2020. Marathi paper leaked 40 minutes before HSC exam
A small bunch of students circulated images of the Marathi paper on WhatsApp at 10:20 am on the day of the examination (on Thursday). Board officials are terming this as a malpractice and not a leak; they said they would approach the cyber police with the complaint. 1.2 lakh students appeared for the Marathi paper in Mumbai.
Govinda seeks protection in defamation case
Bollywood actor Govinda approached the Bombay High Court, seeking protection from arrest in a defamation case lodged against him in 1997. The case was lodged in Jharkhand over a song in the movie 'Chotte Sarkar' and alleges that a defamatory reference was made to Bihar. His counsel said Govinda was being accused with a motive to injure and humiliate him by having him arrested.
Mumbai should expect a hotter summer this year
According to meteorologists, Mumbai will experience a much hotter summer this year as opposed to previous years. India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials say Mumbai may experience a heat-wave this summer. Day temperatures are expected to rise 5 degrees Celsius above normal, surpassing 40 degrees Celsius. Between January and February 2017, Mumbai already witnessed two record-breaking day temperatures- 23rd January and 18th February.

International property consultants Knight and Frank ranked Mumbai at 21 in their annual wealth report, ahead of metros like Toronto, Washington DC and Moscow. City Wealth Index tracks lifestyles and investment decisions of the Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWI), the value of whom is not less than Rs. 200 crore. Even though Mumbai leads with 1,340 UHNWIs, its quality of life remains poor.
Autorickshaw union demands hike of Rs. 3 in minimum fare
