Mumbai: Fire breaks out at Mittal Estate godown, 1 dead
One person was killed in a massive fire that broke out at a godown in Mittal Estate building in Mumbai's Andheri-Kurla road in the early hours of Thursday. At least five fire tenders were rushed to the spot and almost after an hour of hard work the blaze was doused. However, the cooling process is still going on, said reports.
Deceased died due to major burn injuries
According to reports, the deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Pradeep Vishwakarma. He was declared dead on arrival at the Copper Hospital as he received major burn injuries in the fire. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) officials received a fire call around 1:15 am and the flames in the three-storeyed building godown were brought under control by around 3.50 am.
It was a Level II fire, says fire brigade official
An official said that the fire in the three-storeyed building was a level II fire and was confined in a 300 sq metre godown. The cause of the fire has not been identified yet. Plastic materials and electrical wiring were gutted in the blaze. Earlier in the day, another fire incident at a cosmetic shop in Navi Mumbai killed a mother and a daughter.
