    What's the story

Eight years is a very young age to lose someone, but she will live through the recipients of her organs.

This is the story of a Mumbai-based child who suffered a brain stroke Tuesday, after which she was pronounced brain dead.

Via organ donation, she then managed to save six lives, including a 16-year-old who got operated on after writing her Class 10 papers.

    Details

The 8-yr-old was admitted with neurological problems

The child was admitted to Lilavati hospital on February 27 with neurological problems.

She suffered a brain stroke on Monday and soon the doctors declared her brain dead.

"We conducted the first confirmatory test in the morning and second one at 6.30pm, after which we counseled the family about the possibility of donation," said organ donation coordinator Pramod Shinge.

    Recipients

'Her family readily donated the organs'

Shinge added that her parents were aware of the procedure and readily donated her organs.

Her heart saved a 10-year-old, who was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy.

While one of her kidneys went to the SSC examinee, her second one went to a 5-year-old boy.

A 32-year-old man received her liver, and her corneas, kept in Lilavati Hospital's Roshni Eye Bank, will be transplanted soon.
