Bullet train terminus in Mumbai to come up at BKC
The Mumbai terminus of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet train corridor will reportedly come up at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). This decision was taken after National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) said that the other two sites proposed by the Maharashtra state government were not workable for the project. As per reports, the proposed terminus will be located 25 meters underground in three levels.
The underground terminus will have a financial hub above it
The underground terminus in BKC will have a state-planned International Finance and Services Centre (IFSC) building above it. Even though the terminus for the bullet train was not finalized, the foundation stone for the project was laid earlier in September 2017. BKC was approved by the state government with a rider to check the feasibility of BKC and Dharavi first, said a report.
BKC terminus announced by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal
The announcement about the BKC terminus was made by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal at the Magnetic Maharashtra Summit. Goyal was at the event to sign the memorandum of understanding for setting up the coach manufacturing factory at Latur. One Railway official said, "The G-block plot in BKC is ideal and a win-win situation for Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and the bullet train project."
