When the old building in Mumbai's Bhendi Bazaar collapsed, it was 21-year-old Ahmed Ali's call to the police control-room that fetched help. As the building crumbled, Ali soon dialed "100"; the police asked for his address and passed on the details to the fire brigade. After being trapped for three hours on the ground floor, the rescue teams pulled him out of the debris.
