No extreme measures, allowed cheat days
Revealing his weight loss journey in a blog, Goyal wrote, "I started tracking my carb intake, ate a healthy diet (all ordered via Zomato; because Indian home-cooked food is so dominated by carbs), and worked out regularly." He mentioned that he didn't adopt any extreme measures and allowed himself cheat days on weekends, indulging in dishes like chole bhature, butter chicken, and gulab jamun.
Consistency has been his key
Goyal, further sharing on his journey, wrote about how he remained consistently committed to healthier choices compared to his previous habits. This balanced approach positively impacted both his physical and mental health. In his own words, Goyal strongly believes that physical health plays a crucial role in determining mental health and is "a vital force behind a high-performance individual."
With good health comes better control of emotions
"When we move our bodies regularly, we are in better control of our emotions, we think more creatively, and have more energy to tackle more in a day, in a better way than before," he wrote sharing his personal belief.
He also announced a new post for CFO
Goyal announced that Zomato has recently appointed a new kind of CFO (Chief Fitness Officer) who will work closely with all employees in their wellness journey. "Today, we are announcing a paradigm shift in the constitution of our senior team here at Zomato (and other companies?). We've created a position for a new kind of CFO — Chief Fitness Officer," he shared.
What will the Chief Fitness Officer do?
Goyal shared that the Chief Fitness Officer (Anmol Gupta) will closely collaborate with all employees to support their individual wellness and healthy living journeys. The new CFO will work alongside an in-house wellness team comprising trainers, nutritionists, and wellbeing counselors. "Going forward, we are going to invest heartily behind the wellbeing of our employees, our delivery partners and our restaurant partners," added Goyal.
