World Health Day 2022: How to stay healthy
When thinking of changing our lifestyle, we often try to get everything done at once. But take one step at a time, focusing on each goal. Transforming into a healthy person might be your ultimate goal, but staying healthy is more important in this day and age. On World Health Day, let's discuss the basic things one must do to stay healthy.
Eat a balanced diet
Needless to say, balanced nutrition has many health benefits. Several studies have proven that a plant-based diet is the healthiest, however, you can still eat some animal protein if you cannot become a vegetarian suddenly. Flexitarianism is following a diet that includes mostly plant-based foods like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, and fewer or occasional animal products like meat, fish, and eggs.
Get adequate exercise
Exercise can help prevent several diseases, such as high blood pressure, and can treat mental health conditions like depression. People who exercise have a lower chance of getting injured and are generally happier. Routine exercise can keep your weight under control thus lowering the risk of diseases related to being overweight. Try to get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week.
Get enough sleep
We often overlook the importance of sleep in our lives. Sleep is as important as a healthy diet. It clears the mind and helps replenish the body with energy to perform the following day. Chronic sleep deprivation raises your risk for heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and many other disorders. If you have a sleep disorder, consult a doctor and work on it.
Avoid or quit smoking
Every smoker is well aware of the injurious nature of the smoke they are intentionally inhaling and compelling others near them to inhale. Smoking tobacco can cause chronic lung and heart diseases. Tobacco not only affects the direct smoker but also non-smokers around them If you have trouble quitting, seek medical help. A doctor can help you with medicines and counseling.
Stay clean
Personal hygiene is crucial for your health. After the world came to a standstill due to the pandemic, we know how important it is to keep our hands clean. Bathe regularly to get rid of dirt and dead skin cells from our body. Other than cleansing us, water also helps us to relieve stress and calm the body and mind.
