World Animal Welfare Day: Tips to empower pets and animals
October 4 is celebrated as World Animal Welfare Day to promote animal rights and their well-being around the globe. The day serves as a call to protect, nurture, and adore fauna, and to make the world a safe place for them to co-exist. NewsBytes got in touch with Mr. Varun Sadana, co-founder at Supertails, who shares how you can empower your pets and animals.
Role of education
Education is critical to bringing about change. According to Sadana, understanding animal needs and emotions is the first step toward creating a caring society. When one develops empathy toward animals and respects their feelings, that is when one can work for their welfare and protect them from mistreatment. You can teach your children the importance of cohabitation for a more humane future.
Access to healthcare
Healthcare should not be limited to just humans but also to animals and birds as they are also prone to injuries and diseases. "Efforts must be made to provide affordable and top-notch pet healthcare options," suggests Sadana. According to him, another great approach is to collaborate with veterinarians and organizing awareness campaigns can help bridge the gap.
Adopt, don't shop
When it comes to owning a pet, most people buy them from pet shops and promote the torturous breeding culture. Instead of that, one should adopt a pet from a registered animal shelter house. Sadana believes, "Adoption is a life-changing act of love. It's not only about finding homes for stray animals but also about enriching families and our whole planet."
Conversation is the key
The care and protection of animals is much beyond homes and indoor spaces. It is also about what happens outdoors - in jungles, zoos, and on the streets. So many animal species have become extinct or endangered due to hunting and poaching. "It's seminal to support conservation efforts and join hands with groups devoted to the preservation of endangered animals," recommends Sadana.
