Winter skin care: Five food items you should avoid

    What's the story

Winters are harsh, which essentially means pamper time for your skin.

During winters, our skin gets increasingly dry and dehydrated. Thus, it is often recommended to go for natural products to hydrate your skin and maintain optimum pH levels.

However, while applying certain home remedies, you need to be cautious.

Here are five kitchen ingredients you should avoid applying on your skin, during winters.

    #1

    Potato

Potatoes might be the king of vegetables during other times of the year, but not so much during winters.

Although, it is commonly known to tighten the skin and reduce tan, applying potatoes or related remedies to your skin during winters may render it dull, dry, and dark.

In fact, it may even lead to skin irritation or redness. Hence, avoid them.

    #2,3

    Rice flour and Gram flour

Rice Flour: Rice flour has a good amount of starch in it, which helps in tightening the skin. But if applied during winters, it may give you fine lines and dry out your skin. It can even take the natural moisture from your skin, thus making it look stretchy.

Gram Flour: Gram flour has oil reducing properties, and may therefore render your skin dry.

    #4,5

    Cucumber and Lemon

Cucumber: This otherwise refreshing and hydrating food could be a torture for your skin during winters as it snatches away your skin's natural oils.

Lemon: Lemons are a big no-no during winters, as they can make your skin red since they are acidic in nature.

So, avoid these food items, this winter season. Stay healthy and beautiful!
