7 surprising ways to use aluminum foil
If you're unable to use that roll of aluminum foil because there's no need to pack lunches anymore, don't worry. The sheets are versatile and can be used in other ways. Did you know you could use aluminum foil to sharpen blunt scissors by just cutting a few pieces? Here are some useful applications of aluminum foil you probably didn't know about.
Strengthen Wi-Fi signal
Aluminum foil can boost wireless signals at home. Take a small box and place aluminum foil evenly inside it. Put the foil-covered box behind the antenna of your router covering three sides of it. Aluminum amplifies the range of the WiFi signal in the open direction increasing the internet speed. The back of the box will not receive the same signal though.
Quick ironing hack
Use this hack to get a neatly-ironed shirt quicker. Simply put an aluminum foil inside a shirt or piece of clothing that needs to be ironed on both sides. Now neatly iron the top of the shirt, and the metal sheet beneath will heat up and act as iron for the other side of the shirt. This way both sides get ironed simultaneously.
As a beauty mask
Take a sheet of aluminum foil large enough to cover your entire face. Cut out holes for your eyes, nose and mouth and chill it in the fridge. Put the cold metal mask on your face and press it down. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and after removing it, you'll feel relaxed and calm. This reduces inflammation and works as a hangover remedy.
As a funnel and to remove static cling from clothes
If you are unable to find your kitchen funnel, then simply grab some foil. Mould it into the form of a funnel and pour away. If done properly, it will never leak. Sometimes our clothes, especially woollens, have a static cling to them. To get rid of it, just make a ball of some aluminum foil and rub it on the clothes.
To fight off cold
Aluminum foil can be used to give relief from a cold. Take a few sheets and wrap around your feet. Leave on for an hour and then take them off for an hour to let the feet breathe. Then rewrap feet with the foil again. It supposedly has anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve some of the symptoms. However, make sure to consult a doctor.
Shine your silverware
If you are wondering how to polish your silverware, then here's a neat hack using aluminum foil. Take a plastic container and line it with the foil. Put your silverware inside. Now add some washing soda and boiling water to it. Let them soak for about 15 minutes. A chemical reaction will shift the gunk off your silver to the foil.
