Sculpting with shades: How to get ombre lips
A rising trend in makeup is ombre lips, which are made by skillfully combining two or more lip colors to create a gorgeous gradient effect. Dark shades transitioning into a light ones creates an illusion of fuller lips. This method enhances lips of any size by adding dimension with an artistic flair. You can have it subtle or dramatic.
Do a lip prep first
A lip liner, and minimum two different lip color tones are required. You can get liquid lipstics too. However, it is best to use a lip palette for a flexibility of colors. Begin with lip prep (exfoliate and then hydrate) to ensure a smooth canvas. Apply a layer of lip balm after using a mild lip scrub to buff away any remaining flakes.
Choosing the color
Get a color to serve as your primary lip color while choosing the hues. Next, select a color that contrasts with your base color, either by being lighter or darker. For instance, use a red lipstick and match it with your deepest brown lip color. The trick is to use two similar colors that work together to give your lips a gradient effect.
How to apply
Using a fine-tip lip brush, apply your base color (typically a deeper shade) around the borders of your lips. Then, use a softer shade to fill in the rest of your lips and mix it by pressing your lips together. Now, blend the colors together in an upward motion using a lip brush or a Q-tip. Ensure a flawless and gradual gradient transition.
Different ways to perfect the look
Beyond color, the ombre lip trend embraces a variety of textures and finishes. Matte ombre lips exude a modern and edgy vibe, while glossy or metallic gradients add a touch of glamour and dimension to the overall look. You can also reverse the use of colors. Get the innermost part of the lip darker and go lighter as you move out.
