Lakhudiyar Caves
Lakhudiyar translates to "one lakh caves." Located in the Barechhina village on the banks of river Suyal, the walls of the caves have paintings depicting animals, humans, and tectiforms, in black, red, and white. These historically significant caves provide one of the richest experiences of Prehistoric art in India. The site for archaeological rock engraving is being studied by New Delhi's IGNCA.
Zero Point
Zero Point is located inside the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. You can enjoy stunning views of some Himalayan peaks here. Well known for its magnificent view of the sunrise, Binsar Zero Point draws naturalists and travelers alike. You can trek to Zero Point, a moderate hike, along with your kids introducing them to the natural beauty of the place.
Kasar Devi
The Kasar Devi temple in the village of the same name dates back to the 2nd century and hosts an annual "Kasar Devi Fair" on Kartik Poornima. Crank's Ridge, just outside the village, was a popular destination during the Hippie movement, and still attracts tourists today. You can also hike to the temple from Almora walking through pine forests, and birdwatching on the way.
Jageshwar
Jageshwar is one of the Hindu religious Dhams and has temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Vishnu, among others. The biggest of the 125 temples here is the Jageshwar Mahadev Temple in the Jataganga Valley. Due to the number of temples, this town is also known as the "Valley of Gods." Built between the 7th and 14th centuries, the temples are very well preserved.
