Five best cat breeds for families
If you are thinking to bring home a feline companion, know that it's a great idea - cats can be one of the most loving and loyal friends possible. But cats and your younger ones may not always go hand in hand. Kids tend to poke and prod, and even cats aren't always kind. Here are five cat breeds that are perfect for families.
Abyssinian cats
Abyssinians, also popularly known as Abys, are one of the most friendly cats ever. Known to be highly people-oriented, affectionate, and loyal, these short-haired felines tend to mix well with children and fellow pets in the house. They are loved by families for their curiosity and their general want to actively participate in activities taking place around them.
Birman
One of the most loving cat breeds around, the Birman is highly social. When you bring home some guests, it won't run and hide but come out and greet them. Also, these cats happen to be intelligent and are therefore pretty receptive to training. However, they aren't always in a mood to play, thus aren't great for kids who are always active.
Himalayan
Himalayan cats make a great companion for families as they are known for their cool temperament, smartness and interactive nature. They love playing a good game of fetch and can do so for a number of hours at stretch. What's more? They don't take much time to bond with their owner's families and prefer spending more time with them than alone.
Maine coon and Ragdoll
Maine coon: Intelligent and playful, these gentle giants are one of the largest breeds of domestic cats. They are fond of people, relaxed, and quite chilled out, and thus great for families. Ragdoll: Another big sized cat, ragdolls are known for their dog-like personality. And, they are well-mannered, friendly, and love being with kids and other pets.
