How to take care of your baby's skin during monsoon

    What's the story

While the monsoon season may be pleasant for many of us, it's not all fun and games for babies.

Despite the relief from soaring temperatures, the increased humidity and dampness in the air during monsoon pose various issues like heat rashes, skin infections, pus boils, and diaper rashes.

Learn some helpful advice for monsoon baby care, to ensure the comfort of your little ones.

    Tip 1

Bathe your child 2-3 times a week

During the rainy season, you will witness more cases of tangled hair and itchy scalp since moisture and sweat tend to clog the pores on your child's scalp.

While a daily bath is not necessary; two to three times per week is preferable. Warm water should be used for your child's bath.

Remember to use gentle soaps and shampoos while bathing them.

    Tip 2

    Moisturize regularly

Because babies have highly sensitive skin, the elevated levels of humidity during this season can lead to undesirable rashes, dryness, or skin infections. To prevent these issues and promote healthy skin, regular moisturizing becomes essential.

Apply baby-safe, delicate moisturizer after each bath and whenever it appears dry.

Try to find moisturizers that have natural ingredients like shea butter or almond oil.

    Tip 3

Make your baby wear clothes made of natural fibers

Make sure your kids wear loose, breathable clothing made of natural fibers like cotton to ensure the best air circulation and minimize sweating.

Your child may develop heat rashes or prickly heat if they are overdressed.

Additionally, make sure to keep their clothes dry always as wet clothes can contribute to skin infections, especially during the monsoon.

    Tip 4

    Protect them from mosquitoes

The threat of annoying insects like mosquitoes, whose bites might irritate your baby's skin, increases with the onset of monsoon.

Mosquito bites can irritate your baby's skin, turning their sensitive skin red.

To prevent mosquito bites, make sure your child's bed is covered with a mosquito net. Besides, apply a mosquito repellent made specifically for children frequently on their bodies.

    Tip 5

    Change diaper frequently

Keeping your baby's diaper region clean and dry is the best approach to safeguard them against rashes and skin problems throughout the rainy season.

After bathing them use a diaper rash cream. Change the diaper frequently to allow your baby's skin to breathe. Change the diaper as soon as you realize it is soiled.

Opt for cotton diapers to allow adequate aeration.
