Here's how you can clean your gym equipment at home
Working out at home is all things fun as you can freely do your favorite exercises to achieve your fitness goals. However, after every workout session, your exercise equipment can be a hotbed of bacteria and sweat. As a clean home gym is necessary for healthy training, check out these cleaning hacks that you can employ in your home workout space.
Cleaning with microfiber
Using a few microfiber cloths is an easy way to clean the gym equipment after a workout. Microfiber cloths are excellent at collecting dust without scattering it. Use these to clean barbells, weight machines, yoga mats, floor mats, and other necessary equipment. You can improve the cleaning process if there's built-up filth by adding some warm water and soap.
Use a homemade cleaner
While regular dish soap is usually an excellent choice, you can use a spray bottle filled with equal parts distilled white vinegar and water to kill germs. Spray down your equipment, allow it to sit for a few minutes, and then dry it with a microfiber towel. Make sure to unplug any workout equipment before giving it a thorough cleaning.
Disinfectant wipes
Disinfectant wipes are the most efficient against bacteria and germs. Soak your resistance bands in a pail of warm and soapy water, and then give them a good scrub. Rinse and disinfect them after they have fully dried. You can sanitize dumbbells, jump ropes, medicine balls, and various other equipment. This method is fast and more effective.
Ventilation matters
Regardless of how well you clean the equipment, all that sweat and grime eventually results in a musty, damp space. Use a dehumidifier to reduce humidity and a fan to provide airflow to your home gym to keep it feeling fresh. Ensure proper ventilation in your home gym space. Good airflow helps prevent the accumulation of unpleasant odors and mold.
