Situated on top of a hill in the western region of Mechuka, this popular monastery was built in honor of the Mahayana sect. The monastery houses ancient figurines, murals, and artworks by Buddhist Guru Padmasambhava and a Golden Buddha statue. The Mechuka giant flying squirrel was also discovered here.
Explore the Guru Nanak Taposthan
If you are in Mechuka, don't forget to explore the Guru Nanak Taposthan which has a sacred cave devoted to Guru Nanak. The 400-year-old ancient cave also carries a huge rock that supposedly has Guru Nanak's turban's impressions. According to folklore, Guru Nanak stayed in this cave and practiced meditation when he was on his way to Tibet.
