5 things to do in Jibhi, Tirthan Valley
If you are planning a weekend trip to Jibhi in Himachal Pradesh, you are in for a visual treat. Although a relatively commercialized destination, thanks to backpackers from Delhi, Jibhi can help you with that digital detox you often crave. Away from all the chaos and pollution in the cities, why not accept a call from this resplendent little town?
How to reach Jibhi
The easiest way to reach Jibhi is to board a Manali-bound bus from Delhi or Chandigarh and get off at Aut. From there you have to either take a bus or hire a private cab. Jibhi houses numerous hostels and homestays for travelers.
Hike around
Tall and gigantic pine trees lining the winding roads, along with peach blossoms provide an exceptional view to hikers. Get off-road and trek down to a pretty little spot locally called "mini-Thailand," and splash around in the ankle-deep cool waters of the river. Visit the waterfall, an established tourist spot in Jibhi, or simply read a book sitting on a boulder by the river.
Stargazing at night
Mountains always provide a respite to us city dwellers in a variety of ways. One of the most beautiful experiences you can have in the Himalayas is stargazing. Although there's not much for travelers to do after sundown, stargazing is an exceptional opportunity to explore the nightlife. If you're a fan of constellations, you'll be overwhelmed by the sheer presence of countless twinkles!
Trout fishing
Pushpabhad river, a tributary to Beas river, provides an opportunity for fishing trout. It's an experience of a lifetime and does not even require any previous experience. Considered a popular recreational activity, fishing is a must if you visit between March and June or August and September. There are organizations that provide you with the necessary gear for trout angling or fishing.
Try out local cafes
Sit by the gurgling river and enjoy the scene over some honey ginger tea. Try out the cafes in Jibhi and indulge in fresh trout dishes and delicious coffee. Do not forget to enquire about the day's specials. For a heavier meal, try the traditional pahadi dish called siddu--a croissant-shaped bread mostly filled with walnut stuffing, dipped in ghee.
Go on a trek to Seruvalsavar Lake
Just a few hours uphill Jibhi is Seruvalsavar Lake, a holy destination in the mountains that also serves as a fantastic trek route for beginners. Trek through well-shaded pine forests, and behold some breathtaking views on your way to the pristine lake. There are also provisions of overnight camping which will serve as a beautiful night canvas for stargazing.
