BARK unveils luxury charter flight service for dogs
BARK, a well-known dog toy company, has launched BARK Air, a unique charter flight service aimed at providing a luxurious and stress-free travel experience for dogs and their owners. The announcement was made on April 12, with the first flights set to begin on May 23. The service will offer weekly flights connecting Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York, and Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles.
Bark Air expands to international flights
In addition to domestic flights, BARK Air plans to introduce a bi-monthly service to London Stansted Airport. The pricing for this exclusive service is set at $6,000 for a one-way cross-country flight for one dog and their owner. For transatlantic flights, the cost will be $8,000. This new venture aims to deliver a personalized experience for its passengers by bypassing usual security checks and screenings.
Bark Air's unique 'Dogs Fly First' approach
BARK Air flights will feature a unique "Dogs Fly First" preparation process. This includes calming pheromones, soothing music, and dog-preferred colors. Dogs will also be provided with comfort aids such as delicious treats, noise-canceling ear muffs, and calming jackets. To help dogs adjust to cabin pressurization during takeoff and descent, they will be offered a beverage of their choice.
Bark Air's mission and inspiration
BARK Air's mission is to provide an experience akin to a human first-class journey but tailored specifically for dogs. Matt Meeker, co-founder and CEO at BARK, expressed his excitement about creating a truly dog-first experience. The concept of BARK Air was inspired by Meeker's Great Dane, Hugo, who never had the opportunity to travel due to the challenges associated with flying pets, especially large ones.
Catering to the needs of canine companions
Meeker suggests that their dedication to catering to the needs of canine companions is ingrained in every aspect of their mission. They believe that this initiative will not only elevate awareness of their brand's ethos but also foster the growth of the BARK community to include a greater number of devoted dog lovers. Ultimately, the aim is to enrich the lives of dogs and their human counterparts on a global scale through this undertaking.
