King Edward VII's teapot to be auctioned at £12,000
A seven-inch-tall (22 cm) robin teapot that was made in 1876 for King Edward VII is going under the hammer for £12,000. Per reports, this teapot was gifted to him by his wife, the then Princess of Wales, and was made by William James Goode of Minton porcelain. Now, after more than a century, it will be auctioned on September 19 this year.
It's a piece full of Victorian character: Auctioneers
The antique teapot, which is currently up for auction at Woolley and Wallis in Salisbury, has been described by the auction house as "a piece full of Victorian character that should appeal to collectors." According to them, this teapot is no longer part of the Royal Collection but holds an age-old history and significance from a bygone era.
The colorful and quirky teapot is shaped like a bird
This royal teapot, shaped like a robin, boasts a vibrant design created from various materials. The cap is at the center of the bird's top, and the bird's beak serves as the teapot's spout, while the tail acts as its handle.
Priced at £12,000, it's less than the most expensive teapot
Although this unique teapot is up for grabs at £12,000 (Rs. 12,00,000 approx.), it is still nowhere close to the world's most expensive teapot. N Sethia Foundation, a voluntary organization in England, houses this world's most exorbitant kettle (Rs. 24.83 crore) which has 18-karat gold and is ornated with cut diamonds! It also has a 6.67-carat ruby embedded in the middle.
