September 5 is a special day devoted to the invaluable contributions of teachers, mentors, and guides who play an instrumental role in molding individuals into better human beings. As this occasion is all about students thanking their teachers for helping them scale the zeniths of their endeavors, NewsBytes got in touch with a few individuals to know their tales of mentorship and inspiration.
'My teacher gave me her lunch when I forgot mine'
Dipankar Trehan, Senior Associate at EY Parthenon, is grateful to his Hindi teacher from school who shared her lunch with him. "I had forgotten my lunch and the canteen was shut that day. Seeing me famishing, my Hindi teacher gave her food to me so that I wouldn't stay hungry. But guess what? She stayed hungry. This memory still makes me emotional." he shared.
'My teacher helped me button up my sleeves, throughout schooling'
Tanveer Alam, an MA Psychology student, said, "My social studies teacher from school is my favorite because she would always button up my sleeves as I couldn't. I'd always go to her and she never even once refused." "When I look back, it's one of the cutest moments which brings me joy. I hope she is doing happy in her life," he added.
'My teachers supported my dream to become a sportsman'
Siji Johnson, a national swimming champion and a CAS advisor to Shiv Nadar School, shared, "Back in school when I had those grueling practice sessions, I used to feel so tired that I used to doze off during classes. My teachers used to let me rest, they knew my sports achievements." "They were always available during exams too. I'm grateful to them," he added.
'When I was lost, my Ph.D. advisor helped me'
Anuj Vijay Bhatia, Assistant Professor at SRCC, Delhi University, thanks his mentor for motivating him during stressful times. "Like Jambavan reminded Hanuman of his great strength, my Ph.D. advisor reminded me of my potential when I was feeling lost and afraid. Inspired by his words, I persevered and today I am a professor at one of the best colleges in India," he revealed.
