Siggi's Dairy offers $10,000 for a month-long smartphone detox
New York-based Siggi's Dairy is hosting a contest that offers a $10,000 (Rs. 8.3 lakh) prize to ten individuals willing to ditch their smartphones for a month. The digital detox challenge, set to promote healthier habits in 2024, invites interested participants to apply on Siggi's website between January 18 and 31. The company, which provides low-sugar yogurt products aims to demonstrate the advantages of a digital-free lifestyle and inspire positive change.
The company introduces 'Dry January'
Siggi's challenges an open competition to its customers. "We're introducing a NEW kind of "Dry January" this year. Instead of abstaining from alcohol for a month, we challenge you to ditch your smartphone!," reads Siggi's website. "We believe in the power of living a simpler life with fewer distractions. One of the biggest distractions in our lives today is our phone," it adds.
Contest requirements and eligibility
To enter Siggi's 'Digital Detox' program, applicants must be legal residents of all 50 United States and should be at least 18 years old. They must write and submit an engaging essay describing why they need a digital detox and how it will benefit them. Ten winners will be chosen based on their essays and notified via email around February 15.
Ensuring compliance with the digital detox
To ensure participants avoid smartphone usage during the detox, Siggi's Dairy will supply a smartphone lockbox and a classic mobile cellular phone that is not smart phone, with a one-month prepaid SIM card, in addition to $10,000. The company believes in embracing a simpler life with fewer distractions. The program's goal is to showcase the perks of reduced digital distractions for a more fulfilling life.
Additional prizes for contest winners
Along with the lockbox, SIM, and the phone, the 10 winners would also receive one years' supply of Siggi's yogurt. The winners will be announced by Siggi's on the contest website or Siggi's website, following the completion of the contest and verification of the winners, the company stated. The digital detox initiative aims to encourage healthier habits for participants in the new year and beyond.
