Ganesh Chaturthi: 'Richest' Ganpati idol unveiled in Mumbai
With Ganesh Chaturthi approaching, Mumbaikars are joyously commemorating the revered deity with fervor and grandeur. Amidst these festivities, a spectacular Lord Ganesh statue was revealed at the GSB (Gaud Saraswat Brahmin) Mandal in Kings Circle, Mumbai. This remarkable idol is adorned with approximately 69 kg of gold and 336 kg of silver, establishing it as the city's most opulent Ganpati idol installation.

The idol is insured for Rs 360 crores
According to reports, this idol is insured for a whopping amount of Rs 360.40 crore by the GSB Mandal. The idol is reportedly insured by The New India Insurance Co. Ltd. The insurance includes Rs 31.97 crore covering gold, silver, and other expensive items. The remaining insurance amount will go towards other expenses such as the pandal, members, and guests.
The madal opens on September 19
The richest Ganpati idol can be seen in Matunga, close to King's Circle in Mumbai. The idol has also been named, "Navsala Pavnaara Vishwacha Raja," which means "the king of the world who grants wishes." Visitors can enter the pandal and receive blessings from September 19 to September 23. Every year, over six lakh devotees visit this pandal.
GSB is long known for its contributions
GSB Mandal is observing its 69th Ganesh Chaturthi festival this year. The GSB Mandal has long been known for its commitment and devotion to the deity. Apart from celebrating Ganesh Chathurthi, they also conduct charitable activities to give back to the community during the festival. These include activities such as conducting free medical camps and distributing food to the underprivileged.
Enabling digital donations
Every year, they erect enormous Lord Ganesh idols that set new height records. Vice chairman of GSB Seva Mandal Raghavendra G. Bhat told Times of India that this year there will be digital facial recognition for all visitors and that the committee will be accepting all donations digitally. The donors will get e-receipts with a QR code in return.
