Plants you should never keep at home. Here's why
Plants are one of the most important home decor essentials that not only spruce up one's space but also contribute to a clean and fresh environment. However, did you know that there are some plants that you should never bring home as they are believed to bring bad luck? Here are five of them that despite being attractive, aren't considered suitable for homes.
Cactus
According to Feng Shui, cactus and similar thorny plants (except roses) should never be kept at home as they exude negative energies. They can cause friction in relationships, cause stress and anxiety, invite misfortune incidents, and bring bad luck all around. Even Vaastu Sashtra backs this. It is best not to keep a cacti (whether real or fake) at home.
Bonsai
Bonsai plants are undoubtedly beautiful but shouldn't be brought home. The reason? Many believe that it can bring bad luck, especially when it is given as a gift. It reflects stunted growth or development. According to Vaastu Shastra bonsai can disrupt the lifespan of the inhabitants because the plant's growth is inhibited. One may even experience a slowdown in their career or business.
English ivy
English ivy is gorgeous, especially when it comes to decorating bookshelves and other indoor spaces. But are they worthy of being kept at home? Long story short, no. This plant can cause skin-related problems like itching, burning sensation, and irritation, according to Vaastu. Additionally, it is highly toxic to pets like cats and dogs and can also pose mild risks to humans.
Tamarind
Tamarind is a rich source of antioxidants but the tree is said to invite illnesses when kept in home gardens. Legends also have it that the plant is associated with evil spirits and spreads negativity around, which is why they should not be even planted nearby. Scientifically, its acidic leaves don't allow other plants to grow near it.
