National Nut Day: Must-try DIY nut mixes
Nuts are little nutritional powerhouses found in nature, packed with flavor, good fats, and vital nutrients. Whether you're searching for a crunchy salad topping, an energy-boosting trail mix, or a snack high in protein, you can customize your homemade nut mix to fit your dietary needs and palate. Here's how to make nut mixes that are not only delicious but also healthy.
Mango chili almond trail mix
Spread almonds on a baking sheet and bake for five minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix maple syrup, olive oil, chili powder, sea salt, and paprika. Mix the baked almonds into the bowl and stir to coat. Now microwave the almonds for 10 to 12 minutes, until the almonds are golden brown. Once cooled, mix the almonds with dried mango pieces.
Chocoholic mix
In a bowl, add cashews, almonds, and walnuts and toss them with dark chocolate. Make sure the nuts are evenly coated with the chocolate. Next, spread the mixture on a baking sheet and let it cool in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens. Once set, break the mix into bite-sized clusters. And voila! It's ready to serve.
Indian-style mix
Take a pan and add ghee. Once hot, add almonds and cashews. Toss them well. Now add sunflower and melon seeds. Toss it and transfer it to a plate. In a large bowl, add dry raisins, nutmeg, and cranberries. Next, mix it with the roasted nuts and seeds. Add in fennel seed powder and cinnamon. Crush the mishri (sugar candy). Mix everything.
White chocolate mix
In a large mixing basin, mix cereals, peanuts, pretzels, and M&M candies. Pour melted white chocolate over the mix. Stir gently to combine well. You can either use white chocolate chips or white chocolate melting wafers for this recipe. For a healthy option, go for almond bark. Spread it out and allow it to set on wax paper. Cut into portions and savor.
