National Mimosa Day: Get into the 'spirit' with these recipes
The US celebrates National Mimosa Day on May 16 every year to honor the classic cocktail that is a mass favorite. Dating back to the 1920s, mimosa which is a combination of champagne and fruit juice in equal measure, has emerged as a popular brunch and festive drink. Let's make the day more special with these five mimosa recipes for you to try.
Strawberry mimosa
This refreshing mimosa is perfect for a warm outdoor brunch with your loved ones. Begin by adding a handful of strawberries and some orange juice in a blender and blend them until you attain a smooth concoction. Now grab a cocktail glass and fill it half with champagne. Finally, add the strawberry mixture to it and garnish with cut slices of the berries.
Raspberry mimosa
Add some raspberries, orange juice, and honey to a blender and blend until smooth and frothy. Strain this mixture using a fine-mesh sieve so that you can get rid of the berry seeds. Now fill 1/4 part of a cocktail glass with raspberry juice and top the remaining with your favorite champagne. You can garnish the glass with raspberries before sipping the mimosa.
Peppermint mimosa
This mimosa is perfect for those who fancy it minty. Place a peppermint candy on the rim of your glass and then fill about 15 ml of peppermint vodka into it. Now mix 15 ml of clear chocolate liquor and orange juice in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour this mixture and top the remaining portion with your favorite champagne.
Cranberry mimosa
Love cranberries? Well, then you will surely enjoy this invigorating cranberry mimosa as well! Rim a champagne glass by dipping it a little in water and then in powdered sugar. Now pour about 1/4 cup of cranberry juice into it, followed by 1/2 cup of sparkling wine. Finally, place some cranberries and fresh rosemary sprigs in the glass.
Pineapple mimosa
To make a pineapple mimosa, all you need are two basic ingredients. It only takes two minutes to make, so if you have sudden guests you can impress them easily!
