National Ayurveda Day: Effective Ayurvedic solutions to overcome migraine
What's the story
Migraine is an excruciating neurological condition that causes throbbing headaches and nausea, impacting millions of people in India.
As the triggers can be different for different people, it is essential to identify the root cause of the problem and treat the condition accordingly.
On National Ayurveda Day, Shrawan Daga, founder of Krishna's Herbal and Ayurveda, shares some effective Ayurvedic solutions to overcome migraines.
Role
Here's why you should choose Ayurveda to treat migraines
Daga explains the role of Ayurveda in treating migraines by revealing that this ancient system of medicine does not only help one manage their symptoms but also break free from their root cause.
"It begins with first identifying the triggers which can be specific to each individual, then correcting them and finding herbal remedies that can cure it from the root," he says.
Treatment
How does Ayurveda work in treating this health condition?
Daga says that migraine triggers could span from genetics and hormonal changes to lifestyle issues like stress, eating habits, and sleep deprivation. Sometimes, even environmental factors are a cause.
"Ayurvedic treatment for migraines aims to balance the energy or doshas- vata, pitta and kapha, out of which migraine is caused due to imbalance in pitta majorly," he explains.
Treatments
Effective Ayurvedic migraine treatments that can come to your rescue
Daga reveals to NewsBytes, "A holistic balance can be created through panchakarma therapy. Nasya karma, shirodhara, and whole-body oil massage can help immensely."
However, he says that these are only to be carried out by a trained and certified therapist.
According to him, yoga can also be beneficial. "Bridge pose, child pose, and downward facing dog will definitely give great results," he mentions.
Other solutions
Here are some more Ayurvedic solutions that can help
Daga trusts shavatri, an Ayurvedic herb that can help in migraine cases that are stemmed from hormonal imbalance.
He also relies on butterbur, the anti-inflammatory properties of which "acts as a vasodilator that widens blood vessels and helps in reducing the intensity of migraine."
According to him, even ashwagandha can help "to reduce stress and anxiety, dealing with migraine triggered due to psychological issues."
Information
Triphala, lavender oil, and some other herbs are also effective
"Triphala helps to balance doshas, thus weeding out the root problem that could be causing migraines," says Daga. He adds that lavender oil is a "magical solution" that offers respite from headaches. A juice of "sonth, pipplai, amla, harad, pipramul" can also do the job.
