4,000 calories; 8 hours sleep: Mark Zuckerberg reveals his routine
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently offered a sneak peek into his daily routine during a Facebook live Q&A session. The American business magnate who happens to be the world's sixth richest man alive according to Forbes follows a routine that captures his family time, personal care, and daily habits in equal measure. Take a look at what he does throughout the day.
Zuckerberg checks his phone first thing in the morning
Zuckerberg revealed that the first thing he does when he wakes up is to check his phone. "The first thing I do is look at my phone. It's a pretty sad situation, to be honest. I have contacts and I can't see very well. And before I put them I often look to see what is going on on Facebook," he stated.
He responds to a bunch of emails in the morning
Sharing with Forbes this September, Zuckerberg shared that he responds to a bunch of emails every morning. "I'll wake up and there will be a bunch of emails. Usually, people aren't emailing me about things that are going well. It's a very diverse set of things that are breaking across the company. I'll respond to a bunch of emails in the morning," he said.
The man describes this habit as "not good"
After sharing his morning routine, the billionaire took no time to describe this habit as "not good." He said, "It's almost like you wake up and you're punched in the stomach, so it's, like, OK ... now I need to go reset myself and be able to be productive and not be stressed out about this." Food for thought, Mr. Zuckerberg!
The Meta CEO does MMA and jiu-jitsu sessions weekly
Despite his overwhelming schedule, Zuckerberg doesn't turn away from his fitness routine. And believe us, his workout isn't for the faint-hearted. According to the New York Post, he replaces his running sessions three times a week with about three to four intense jiu-jitsu and MMA sessions weekly. He is also quite active with strength training, mobility training, and conditioning exercises.
The billionaire claims to have 4,000 calories daily
To keep up with his insanely intense and strict workout routine, Zuckerberg claims to consume a staggering 4,000 calories a day. Now you may be wondering if that's healthy, considering that on average one only needs 2,000 to 2,500 calories per day. Healthline says 4,000 calories might be appropriate for someone following Zuckerberg's training intensity and metabolism. For others, it is excessive.
He saves his mind and time by avoiding trivial decisions
In a candid discussion with CNN in 2015, Zuckerberg said that he saves his mind and manages time properly by avoiding pressing and trivial decisions, which is why he only wears the same outfit every day. Additionally, the youth sensation spends "50 to 60 hours per week" in office and spends "whole life" thinking and working on his company.
Chan shares Zuckerberg is a Swiftie and sings with daughters
Speaking to Forbes, Zuckerberg's wife Priscilla Chan stated that her husband gives equal importance to home and family time. She shared that every night, he reads books or indulges in coding with their three daughters and this has become their "night routine." Chan further revealed that he "learns every lyric of the Taylor Swift songs and Jewish hymns" to sing with the kids.
Zuckerberg ensures he's sleeping for eight hours daily
With a hectic schedule like Zuckerberg's, one may find it difficult to catch up on some sleep. However, the CEO of Meta makes sure he gets eight hours' worth of sleep daily. Per sources, he hits the sack early every night and tracks his sleep quality using an Oura ring. "I don't stay up super late at night," he told Forbes.
