Delhiites, gear up for Mango Festival happening at Dilli Haat
Delighting taste buds with its delectable flavor and offering numerous health benefits, the beloved mango stands as a seasonal favorite among many. And celebrating this blissful fruit, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has returned with the 32nd edition of the Mango Festival after three long years post the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival kicks off today and will run until July 9.
The celebration will take place at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri
The 32nd Mango Festival is going to be held at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri. It will be augurated by Ms. Atishi Singh, Minister for Tourism, Government of Delhi on July 7. You can attend the three-day festival between 12 noon to 10:00 pm.
More than 500 different varieties of mangoes to be displayed
More than 500 distinct varieties of mangoes including both traditional and rare ones will be displayed. Mango producers from different states shall attend this event. "I'm bringing around 80 varieties of mangoes to participate in the festival. Out of these, I'm extremely confident that the Ramkela, Langra, and Chaunsa will win,"Business Standard quoted Ramveer Singh Chauhan, a mango producer from Uttar Pradesh.
You can participate in many competitions
The key highlights of this event are various competitions that one can participate in and win big. A mango-eating competition for men is scheduled to take place on July 8, while women can participate in the same on July 9. There's also a mango quiz, slogan writing competition, joy rides for children, and many cultural programs on the list.
Shop for mango-based products like jams, sweets, and drinks
You can also get your hands on a host of authentic and locally sourced mango-based products like jams, sweets, and drinks. "We have an exciting event this year known as '100 hai daam, kitna bhi khao aam,' where a person can pay to eat unlimited quantities of mangoes for Rs. 100," a member from Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Cooperation told Times of India.
