List of long weekends in 2022
Now that COVID-19 has waned a little and things seem to be getting back to normal (fingers crossed), how about taking that trip you have been wanting to. We are here to tell you about all those long weekends that are coming up this year. So keep your schedule ready, backpack near, and shoes clean, and set out at every chance you get!
Holi
March 18, 19, 20 (Friday to Sunday). If you are a fan of Holi, visit Vrindavan and Mathura for the festival of colors on your long weekend. This is also your last chance to see any snow in the Himalayas. Visit Kashmir's Gulmarg for snowboarding, or The Great Himalayan National Park in Himachal Pradesh. Or perhaps spend the weekend home scrubbing off colors.
Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday
April 14, 15, 16, 17 (Thursday to Sunday). This is the longest weekend of 2022! You can visit any wildlife sanctuary as there are more chances of getting to see wildlife. Visit Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat to see lions, or Bandhavgarh in Madhya Pradesh to see Royal Bengal Tigers. Visit the mountains to experience the last bit of chills.
Buddha Purnima
May 14, 15, 16 (Saturday to Monday). This is the perfect time to escape to the mountains and hills for some respite from the city heat. Choose offbeat places to avoid the crowd, and opt for quaint towns in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and perhaps Ooty for the flower show. Choose a place closest to you and go chill.
Independence Day
August 13, 14, 15 (Saturday to Monday). Pack up after work and take an overnight bus to Jaipur or Agra from Delhi for a pleasant weekend trip. Since it is monsoon during this time, we would not recommend going to the mountains. Many places experience landslides and tremendous rain in August. Or you can simply sit at home watching the rain sipping on tea.
Diwali
October 22, 23, 24 (Saturday to Monday). Diwali is mostly a family occasion and involves a lot of work preceding the festival. You may consider staying home and lending a helping hand in the annual cleaning or the puja. Otherwise, you can always plan a trip to the mountains or near the beach and watch fireworks in the night sky.
