Expert reveals step-by-step lip care daily routine for smooth-healthy lips
In today's day and age, the importance of a well-rounded lip care regimen cannot be overstated. With a multitude of lip care products, all promising to deliver velvety softness to our lips, the choices can indeed be bewildering. NewsBytes connected with Aashka Goradia Goble, co-founder of RENÉE Cosmetics, to shed light on a systematic lip care routine to attain and maintain healthy lips.
Exfoliate
Goradia Goble suggests the first step in the lip care routine as exfoliation. "Using a lip scrub is a superb way to exfoliate your lips, enhancing their suppleness, softening cracks, removing dead cells, and stimulating circulation," she says. Exfoliate once a week but do it gently and avoid overdoing it to prevent redness, swelling or bleeding, she advises.
Moisturize
Apply moisturizer to your lips after thoroughly cleansing and exfoliating them. Moisturizers or lip balm will penetrate the skin more effectively once you have clean lips. According to Goradia Goble, if you have dry lips, then it is recommended to choose creamy, oil-based and moisturizing lipsticks, lip colors, tints or glosses to help keep the lips moisturized.
Hydration
Cracked lips are the first indicators of dehydration. Products such as lip balm or lip oils can be used to keep the lips hydrated. "Ensure you hydrate your lips with a balm or oil before using any lip color or lipstick to avoid flaky and dry lips. Reapply lip balm whenever your lips feel dry," Goradia Goble suggests.
Sunscreen is essential
Goradia Goble emphasizes applying sunscreen. "Just as applying sunscreen to your face is crucial, safeguarding your lips is equally important. Use lip products with SPF to shield your lips from sun damage," she says. Apart from applying sunscreen, it is also recommended to be hydrated by drinking enough water if it's really hot outside or if you are out in the Sun.
Nightime routine
An essential step in the lip care routine is to remove lip products like lipstick, lip color etc. before going to bed using a gentle makeup remover. Removing the makeup products off the lips at night helps the lips to breathe overnight. Additionally, Goradia Goble suggests applying some lip balm or lip oil overnight to wake up with smooth and supple lips.
