Christmas 2023: Experts share latest trends in festive home decor
Given that Christmas is only a few days away, it is the perfect time to jazz up your home decor. Wondering how to do that? NewsBytes got in touch with a few home decor experts who shared inputs on how one can explore unique color combinations and imaginative displays to match the newest trends that are reshaping how we decorate for Christmas.
Play around with furniture
Mr. Raghunandan Saraf, founder & CEO, of Saraf Furniture, suggests adding a bit of flair by choosing comfy floor cushions instead of regular chairs, vintage trunks turned into festive coffee tables, and stackable gift boxes as cool makeshift side tables. He says that doing this adds both a personal touch and fashionable and useful elements to your decor.
He recommends moving away from typical reds and greens
Mr. Saraf adds that it is wise enough to move over the typical reds and greens and instead try some new hues. "Embrace earthy tones like mustard, deep burgundy, and forest green. Make things even cozier by layering textures with faux fur, chunky knit blankets, and plush velvet pillows," he states. The goal is to create an inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and togetherness.
Add ornaments and greenery to your space: Saraf
"Hang delicate ornaments, greenery, or small gifts from invisible threads, creating a whimsical and gravity-defying display," shares Saraf. According to him, by maximizing vertical space and drawing attention upward, this unexpected twist gives your Christmas setup a magical touch. Your space becomes a winter wonderland as the suspended elements become captivating focal points.
Enliven your abode with festive aroma
Rosemoore's director, Ridhima Kansal, emphasized that adding fragrant fabric ornaments can uplift your atmosphere. "Create little bags filled with nice-smelling spices or potpourri and hang them on your tree or put them around your home. These ornaments not only look nice but also make your place smell good," she mentioned. She suggests getting scented candles, diffusers, or potpourri with aromas like cinnamon or vanilla.
Need more scent options? Kansal has got you covered
Use things like cinnamon sticks, rosemary, and dried orange slices. Put these bundles in pretty bowls or vases on your table. They not only look good but also make your whole home smell subtly festive. "Together, these lovely scents create a festive atmosphere," says Kansal.
Focus on dual-purpose decor
Tejpal Singh Shekhawat, founder, and CEO of Kalyanam Furniture emphasizes dual-purpose decor. "Choose things that don't just look good but also serve a practical purpose. Imagine having a Christmas tree that also works as a shelf or ottomans that secretly store your holiday stuff. It is a way to be useful and stylish at the same time," he reveals.
Get creative
Turn everyday pieces into holiday masterpieces by adding garlands to bookshelves, wrapping fairy lights around chair legs, or hanging stockings in creative ways from cabinet handles. This unique approach ensures that every part of your home is filled with holiday happiness.
