Groom's galore: Unveiling 2023's trendsetting wedding fashion trends
As weddings continue to evolve into personal expressions of love and style, grooms are taking center stage with trends that redefined traditional notions of wedding attire and celebration. In 2023, the groom's ensemble, accessories, and overall wedding experience witnessed a transformation that mirrored contemporary tastes and embraced individuality. NewsBytes touched base with Rajesh Singh, brand head at Don & Julio to understand key trends.
Grooms made use of diverse color palettes
This year, grooms embraced a more diverse palette for their outfits. According to Singh, earthy tones like olive green, deep burgundy, and various tones of brown gained popularity this year. "The symbolic meaning of earthy hues in traditional weddings is groundedness, earthiness, and connection to nature," he says. Besides, pastel colors were also in trend, adding a romantic touch to the weddings.
Fabric choices stood out
The general feel and appearance of the clothing are greatly influenced by the fabrics used. "Some of the most popular varieties were Banarasi, tussar, and Kanjeevaram silks because of their richness and elaborate weaving designs. Silk jackets, kurtas, and sherwanis were some traditional options," says Singh. Besides, grooms also wore Jamawar fabric as shawls or stoles which added warmth and elegance to the look.
2023 spotted blend of traditional designs and contemporary styles
Grooms opted for traditional styles on their wedding attire such as the complex mirror work embroidery, zari work, paisley motifs (called buta), Banarasi weave, Kashmiri artistry, or traditional designs like the kantha or jamdani weaves. These patterns were added as accents on stoles or turbans, or incorporated into sherwanis or kurtas for a royal and culturally diverse look, Singh pointed out.
Variety in accessories
Traditional wedding accessories were being incorporated by grooms from their cultural backgrounds. Whether it's traditional headwear, ceremonial accessories, or embroidered motifs, this trend honors diversity and inclusion while giving a special touch to the groom's outfit. Some even incorporated personalized embellishments such as monograms, embroidered initials, and significant dates into the fabric, adding sentimental value to the outfits.
