International Yoga Day: Expert reveals how yoga ignites inner radiance
June 21 each year is celebrated as International Yoga Day to honor the ancient practice that is best defined as a discipline of meditation, body postures, and moral precepts. So to make the most of this day, NewsBytes got in touch with yoga master and spiritual leader Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, founder of Akshar Yoga Institutions. He shared five ways yoga ignites inner radiance.
A healthy body is a healthy mind
Per Akshar, the asanas in yoga are intended to balance, strengthen, and stretch the body. "A person's energy levels and sense of vitality frequently grow as their body gets stronger and more flexible. In addition to assisting people in letting go of fears and anxieties, yoga practice also focuses on the present moment and cultivates mindful awareness, which lowers stress levels," he says.
Breath and emotional balance
"Yoga promotes introspection and self-reflection," states Akshar. He believes that yoga increases emotional awareness, strengthens the body-mind connection, and promotes bodily awareness. With that, "Individuals may have more body confidence, a better understanding of their bodies, and a better body image by forging this relationship," reveals the yoga master.
Better connection with self
"People who do yoga become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. This increased self-awareness has the potential to improve relationships, lifestyle, and general well-being which contributes to inner radiance," shares Akshar. He further enlightens us that people could have better mental clarity, decision-making abilities, and more attention if they practice yoga regularly.
Improved quality of rest
Akshar says that yoga can combat sleep-related issues like insomnia or poor sleep quality, which can get you your inner mojo back without having to depend on medicines. "Before going to bed, you may encourage your body to be ready for sleep by doing some easy yoga postures or restorative poses. This can increase the quantity and quality of your sleep," he advises.
Enhanced mindfulness
"Yoga incorporates mindfulness, the technique of embracing the present moment. One develops a state of awareness when one concentrates on the breath, bodily sensations, or certain postures. Off the mat and into daily life, this awareness can help people feel more present, grateful, and generally happier," mentions the yoga master. By practicing yoga, people may develop a radiance that comes from inner bliss.
