There's the comfortable life, there's luxury and then there's uber-luxury! Miami's Indian Creek Island is one such place famous for its posh properties and the rich families that live there. It houses just over 40 residents, with each property sitting on the borders, giving everyone a splendid view of the beach. Here is more about this lavish island that houses the uber-rich and famous.
Who live on this uber-swanky island?
In 2020, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner bought a $30 million-plus lot on Miami's Indian Creek Island, reported Page Six. Celebrity couple Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen were also reported to have spent $17 million for a lot. Other residents include Rakesh Gangwal, former CEO of US Airways; Eddie Lampert, former Sears CEO; Robert Diener, co-founder of Hotels.com; and investor Carl Icahn.
What's special about this island?
It's privacy baby! Ditching congested city lives, people here seek some peace and quiet. Each property is large enough to include everything you need, plus extra space between neighbors. Non-residents aren't allowed in without getting their driver's license checked. The whole area is private and gated. They even have their own police force and an armed marine patrol on duty around the island 24x7.
Private schools and a golf course
This exclusive island is close to several well-known private schools which would be a bonus or rather a major reason for families with children to move there. The island with just 29 residences also has the Indian Creek Country Club, an exclusive and private society. The enclave houses a world-class 18-hole golf course as well. It's pretty much a little town on its own.
How expensive is too expensive?
According to Miami Herald, in 2019 the 300-acre neighborhood, known as the "Billionaire's Bunker" was home to properties worth over $13 million each on average. The Kushners's property is spread over 1.84 acres with a 200 feet private waterfront. The lot, which was reportedly on sale for $31.8 million, would cost the owners annual taxes worth $472,764. Let's not even convert that to Rupees!
