How to make your lipstick last longer
Long-lasting lipstick might seem like a dream, but a few makeup tricks can actually ensure your lip color lasts longer and looks fresh. Several brands might promise you hours of perfect pout, but we all know that this rarely holds true. If you are tired of reapplying your lipstick, try these hacks to rock that pout with confidence.
Exfoliate and moisturize your lips
Dry and flaky lips can make your lipstick look patchy and make the color dull. So, before applying your lip color, exfoliate your lips gently with a mixture of powdered sugar and olive oil to eliminate the dead skin cells and hydrate your lips. Following this, apply some petroleum jelly or lip balm with SPF for adequate moisturization, and then apply your lip shade.
Prime your lips
Just like we prime our face for a long-lasting base, your lips can also use a little primer to avoid the lip color from bleeding and fading. After applying your lip balm, line the edges with the primer and cover the lips. This creates a smooth canvas and also makes the color pop. You can also use a concealer instead of a primer.
Use a liner on your lips
Once you are done with priming your lips, pick a lip liner closest to your lip shade. Line your lips with the liner and also fill in your lips with the same color. This method gives your lip color a base to hold on to. In case you do not have the same color liner as your lipstick, then choose a nude lip color.
Always apply your lipstick using a brush
Stop applying the lipstick straight from the bullet. Use a lip brush to get an even color that is long-lasting. Start with applying the color at the center of your pout. Then fill in the rest of your lips moving inward from the edges. A brush makes the lipstick application more seamless and even, allowing the color to absorb properly.
Blot it and puff away!
You must have seen women pressing their lips against tissue paper after applying lipstick. Well, this is a neat trick to remove excess color. Once this is done, place another tissue paper over your lips and pat on loose powder using a fluffy brush. Next, apply a final coat of lipstick. Now you are ready to rock your lip color for hours.
