Holi 2022: Hacks to protect your skin and hair
Holi is around the corner and if you are worried about your skin and hair getting affected by harmful Holi colors, then we are here to help you out. The synthetic pigments used to prepare the colors can damage your skin and hair health. However, following certain haircare and skincare tips can keep them protected and safe from the hazards of these colors.
Oil your hair and body well
Mix some coconut oil with castor oil and a few drops of lemon juice and apply it all over your skin at least 15 minutes before you start playing with colors. This will help the colors to come off easily. Also, don't forget to apply sunscreen. Massage your hair with warm coconut oil to form a protective shield before you start playing with colors.
Protect your fingernails
It's very difficult to remove harsh Holi colors from certain parts of your body like nails. Soak your nails in lots of olive oil so that the colors do not get soaked up by your nails. Then, apply a thick coat of dark-colored nail polish to form a protective shield on your nails. Finish off by applying some petroleum jelly under your nail edges.
Avoid wearing wet clothes for long
Wearing wet clothes for a longer period of time can cause irritation or rashes on your skin due to prolonged moisturization. The harmful chemical-infused colors can also settle into your skin pores. Since colors have chemicals, you might even end up experiencing other skin issues because of this. Also, choose dark-colored cotton clothes instead of denim and synthetic materials.
Cover your head with a scarf
If you want to protect your scalp from the harmful Holi colors, then avoid keeping your mane loose as you head out to play with colors. After oiling your hair properly, tie it up and cover it with a scarf or bandana to protect your scalp as the colors tend to stay longer there. Also, wear clothes that cover you well.
Rub some ice cubes on your face
Before you start playing Holi, do not forget to use this easy hack to protect your skin from harmful pigments. First, cleanse your face with a gentle face wash, then rub some ice cubes to minimize the open pores and close them. This will prevent the colors from getting absorbed into your skin. After this, apply sunscreen and moisturizer for added protection.
