Step-by-step guide to a home pedicure
Your feet deserve equal love and care as the rest of your body. Constant exposure to bad weather conditions and irregular skincare routine makes our feet rough and dry. But pampering them doesn't require a trip to the salon. And we all know that salon pedicures can be expensive. Here's an easy pedicure you can do at home using natural ingredients.
Clean the nails and cut them
The first step to a successful pedicure session is to remove any old nail polish residue with a nail polish remover. This will also help to eliminate any accumulated dirt on your nails and make your nail polish long-lasting. Then, trim and shape your nails with a nail filer. Make sure you don't cut the nail corners much and cut straight across the nails.
Take a foot bath
After your toenails are cleaned properly, soak your feet in some lukewarm water infused with vinegar, Epsom salt, and essential oil. Soak your feet for about 15 minutes and enjoy the calming and relaxing vibe. Also, add some smooth pebbles to the water to gently massage your feet while you enjoy your soaking time. After that, pat your feet dry with a cotton towel.
Exfoliate your feet
Now that the skin on your feet has softened, scrub off the dead skin using a foot file or a pumice stone. Apply cuticle cream on your toenails and leave it for a few minutes while you scrub your feet gently. Clean the cuticle cream and use a cuticle pusher to push back your nail cuticles. Finish off with some cuticle oil.
Moisturize and massage your feet well
After exfoliating your feet, slather a generous amount of moisturizer on your feet to make the skin soft, smooth, and hydrated. This helps to nourish your skin and prevent it from cracking. Massage your feet well. You can even use a foot massager to make the step easier. A good foot massage improves blood circulation and stimulates your nerve endings.
Finish with a nail paint of your choice
Before painting your nails with your favorite shade, apply a base coat to ensure your nail paint lasts longer. It also helps make your nails healthy. Once it dries off, apply two coats of your nail paint in long and even strokes. Let it dry and then apply a thin layer of topcoat. Now take a nap and let your feet rest.
