Five ways to remove musty smell from clothes during monsoon
The monsoon is here. And though the rainy season is sure to offer some much-needed respite from the summer heat, it might make it challenging for you to be on top of your style game. Due to increased humidity and excessive perspiration during monsoon, our clothes tend to be quite smelly. Here are five ways to remove musty smell from your apparels during monsoon.
Don't pile up your clothes, odor worsens with time
We usually tend to keep throwing our (used) clothes in the washing machine or in the laundry basket for a good number of days before we actually decide to give them a wash. But during monsoon, this will only make your clothes stink even more because the odor worsens with time. You can try hanging your garments somewhere separately, to control the smell.
Add vinegar or baking soda to your detergent
During the nasty monsoon season, your regular washing powder just might not be enough. So try pouring some vinegar or baking soda to your detergent while washing your clothes. These will help neutralize the unpleasant smell coming from your clothes. Apart from using these every time you wash your clothes, also make sure to use a good-quality and fragrant detergent.
Dry clothes inside; Store washed clothes in a dry place
Dry clothes inside: Waiting for the sun to show up? Not a great idea. During monsoon, it is better to dry your clothes inside. Keep the room well-ventilated and switch on the fan. Store clothes in dry place: To reduce risk of dampness in clothes, store them in a dry place. Also, put a few sticks of chalk around to prevent them from stinking.
#5: Try washing your clothes inside-out
Another way to get rid of the musty smell during the rainy season is to wash your clothes inside-out. This is because sweat and grime tend to stick to the insides of your clothing, not the outside. Try these out. Thank us later.
