Aromatherapy at home: How to enhance mood and room ambiance
The human experience holds a captivating element: the power of smell. Aromatherapy, apart from captivating our olfactory nerves, can significantly enhance our mood and overall well-being. Certain scents have the power to make us feel at peace and elicit happy feelings. NewsBytes caught up with Ridhima Kansal, Director, Rosemoore, a luxury fragrance brand to delve into the significance of different fragrances for various rooms.
How scents uplift the mood
Many reports have suggested that aromatherapy can be an effective tool for stress management. The right scent can instantly uplift your mood by triggering the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. Their soothing effects can also promote physical and mental relaxation, lessen insomnia, and result in deeper, more restful sleep. Different smells can bring up various feelings, emotions, and recollections.
Relaxing scents to be used in the bedroom
The bedroom is for relaxation. Thus any fragrance that contains sandalwood, chamomile, or lavender is a good bet, according to Kansal. "The opposing effects of citrus and minty fragrances should be avoided. Try using florals like rose, jasmine, or ylang-ylang if you want to create a more romantic mood. Suitable scents for the bedroom include musk, amber, and vanilla," she says.
Unwinding aromas to be used in the washroom
Kansal suggests going for a candle with ginger, peppermint, or eucalyptus notes for more of a spa-like experience that will help you unwind. "In a restroom, scents might be tough to regulate. Diffusers with essential oils are a fantastic alternative because they help filter the air and remove airborne microorganisms. They also tend to be more potent than other home fragrance items," she adds.
Avoid overpowering the smell of food in the kitchen
Keeping scents in a kitchen is a challenging task given the fact that the smell should not compromise the aroma of foods. "A citrus-based scent, such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, or tangerine, is the safest choice because it is lively and refreshing while also masking unpleasant odors. Selecting strong, spicy, or too-sweet perfumes can interfere with the aromas produced by meals," Kansal recommends.
Fill the living room with warmth
According to Kansal your living room's aroma should reflect personal preference. However, it should not be intense. She suggests, "Try perfumes with herbs like basil or sage or fruits like green apple, grapefruit, or pomegranate if you desire a clean, fresh feeling. Warmth and atmosphere can be added by using notes that are deeper and richer, such as amber, ginger, blackberry, almond, and cardamom."
You can increase productivity in home offices with fragrances
fragrances can create the ideal setting to increase productivity. "Whether you have a specific place or have set up a temporary home office in your kitchen, bedroom, or living room. Smells can help with attention and prevent mid-afternoon brain fog," she says. She adds that lemon particularly has been known to improve alertness and productivity when its fragrance is spread around a home office.
