National Ayurveda Day: Ayurveda's age-old secrets for a balanced life
Our health suffers as we strive to keep up with the fast-paced world and lead busy lives with unpredictable schedules. As we work long hours and eat at irregular times, the interconnected mind, body, and spirit begin to show signs of imbalance. On National Ayurveda Day, Shrawan Daga, founder of Krishna's Herbal and Ayurveda explains how Ayurveda can help tackle these lifestyle disorders.
Helps in cleansing the body
Daga suggests the Ayurvedic treatment panchakarm for complete cleaning of the body. The therapy consists of a series of tailored and specialized cleansing and renewing treatments. This includes abhyanga (therapeutic massage), shirodhara (continuous oil pouring on the forehead), basti (medicated enemas), and nasya (nasal injection of herbal oils). According to Daga panchakarm aids in the elimination of toxins and the enhancement of energy.
Can restore energy imbalances
"Pitta, vata, and kapha are the three main energies identified by Ayurveda, and each individual has a unique constitution based on these doshas," explains Daga. Any imbalance in these energies can result in lifestyle disorders such as digestive troubles, stress, diabetes, and disrupted sleep cycles, among other things. "Ayurveda can be a transforming tool for promoting balance and vitality through lifestyle adjustment," says Daga.
Focuses on mindful eating
Ayurveda emphasizes mindful eating, which takes into account not only the quantity but also the quality of food. The first step in dealing with lifestyle disorders is to eat fresh, seasonal, and organic foods. "When fresh ingredients or juices are employed, they have great results not only for the body but also for the skin and hair," says Daga.
Emphasizes optimum sleep
Sleep has a major role in maintaining overall health. It is a known fact that sleep, if not given the required attention and consideration, can bring in lifestyle illnesses such as stress and anxiety. Ayurveda places great importance on quality sleep. Following a consistent sleep schedule and creating a peaceful bedtime routine can help balance the doshas and improve overall health.
