Here's how to do a keratin treatment at home
If you've ever had a keratin treatment done, you know how great your hair feels afterward. These treatments are generally expensive, but if you want a cheaper way of smoothening and straightening your hair, here are five keratin treatments that you can do at home. It is important to note that these treatments need to be done on a regular basis to see results.
Coconut milk and hibiscus hair pack
Coconut milk is rich in protein, and hibiscus is rich in amino acids. Both of them thoroughly nourish your hair. Mix coconut milk, hibiscus powder, yogurt, honey, and aloe vera gel to make a paste. Apply this on your hair and leave it on for 30-40 minutes. Wash it off with a mild shampoo. This keratin hair mask fights dryness and prevents split ends.
Egg yolk, honey and almond oil
Mix one egg yolk, one tablespoon honey, and one tablespoon almond oil in a bowl and blend it well. Evenly apply the mask on your hair and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse off with cool water and then use a mild shampoo to clean your hair of any remaining egg. Repeat this mask at least once a week.
Rice water
Rice water contains amino acids that can boost the protein content of your hair. Soak a cup of rice in four cups of water for 30 minutes. Strain the water into a spray bottle. Wash your hair with shampoo and rinse. Spray the rice water on your hair and scalp and massage. Leave on for about half an hour and then rinse off.
Yogurt and urad dal hair mask
Lentils are full of protein and can give that much-needed boost to your hair. Soak urad dal overnight and blend to a paste. Add yogurt and mix, add two spoons of aloe vera gel, two tablespoons of castor oil, and one tablespoon of coconut milk and mix well. Make a smooth paste out of this and apply from root to tip using a brush.
Flaxseed hair mask
Flaxseeds can make your hair extremely smooth. Mix flaxseeds, water, and methi powder in a bowl and let it rest overnight. The following day, grind it well and add more water if needed and apply this paste on your scalp and hair from the root to the tip. Keep it for 30-40 minutes and then wash off your hair with a mild shampoo.
