Ticks in your dog? Try these home remedies
Dogs, like most other furry animals, are vulnerable to tick infestation, especially during the monsoon or the summer season. And once they come in contact with these tiny, blood-sucking insects, it is a taxing task to help them find relief. You can try these natural and home remedies but before that, always check with your veterinarian for the right guidance.
Bay leaves
Bay leaves feature a strong scent that is enough to chase ticks away. Since they are counted as a natural flea and tick repellent, you can simply crush or ground some bay leaves and place them on your doggo's fur or the area affected. You can also place some leaves in and around their bedding to keep them safe.
Neem oil
Neem is packed with antiseptic and antibacterial properties that can keep ticks away. All you have to do is, pour a few drops on your dog's fur and gently rub around the affected area. If their skin is sensitive, dilute this oil with almond or jojoba oil. You can even bathe your furball with neem leaves-infused water.
Cloves
Cloves are loaded with anti-inflammatory properties that can kill ticks. And for them to work, you can make a clove spray by mixing three camphor crystals with dried cloves in water. As you spray, make sure you cover the eyes, nose, and mouth of your four-pawed friend so that the solution doesn't enter their system.
Mint leaves
The strong scent of mint drives ticks away quickly, so preparing a mint spray can do wonders. Mix mint leaves, juice from two lemons, and 10 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in warm water. Let the leaves stay soaked for 15 minutes and allow the solution to stay in the bottle overnight. The following morning, strain the mixture and spray it over the fur.
